It all started as a tool to help me host my own server. I put it online and people started to download it. And so I kept adding features, manage the website and fix bugs :)
In the beginning it was more of a server wrapper that sent commands to an external command line prompt. Back then in 2011 with Minecraft running version Beta 1.5, there were almost no GUI wrappers out there, MC Server Soft or MCSS for short was one of the few that offered this functionality, making it very popular.
Much later it became a real server manager that could truly manage the server. With the rise of online panels and other alternatives, MCSS has taken a bit of a hit popularity-wise. But still, MC Server Soft has become a hobby and a dedication, which to this day I still love working on.
